Josh Freese, hailed as "The Bruce Lee of Drums", is one of the most sought-after and popular artists in today's drumming world with 100 plus albums under his belt. Josh began his professional touring/recording career at the age of 12 playing in a Top 40 band at Disneyland and by the age of 15 he had recorded with Dweezil Zappa and The Vandals.

From A Perfect Circle to The Indigo Girls, Chris Cornell to The Vandals and Guns N' Roses to Devo, Josh is a drumming chameleon. Covering it all from rock to punk to folk in the blink of an eye. Josh's drumming is flexible, adaptable and versatile, but his style and sound are uniquely his own.

Within the past year, Josh also found some time to write and release his first solo record, Josh Freese: "The Notorious One Man Orgy". A 12-song collection on which he not only plays drums, but also sings, plays guitar, bass and keyboards. Josh had a strong presence recently in DRUM! Magazine's 2001 Readers Poll. Josh placed in the categories of Studio Drummer, Alternative Rock Drummer and Mainstream Rock/Pop Drummer. Josh will also be performing at this years "Drum Day L.A." in early December.

Josh Freese's H-220

"Check out the wood I created!"

Vater Percussion is very pleased to introduce the new Josh Freese "Player's Design" Model.

When Josh was tossing and turning at night thinking about a design for his new "Player's Design" model, he had one reoccurring thought in his mind... versatility. While Josh is constantly bouncing around from one session or tour to the next, he doesn't have time to fumble through his stick bag every time to change stick models. Which is exactly why Josh's design is perfect for him and any drummer in the same situation.

"Simple yet versatile. Straight-forward yet flexible. Whether I'm playing punk rock, pop or anything in-between, the H-220 lets me easily switch gears without having to switch sticks." Says Josh of his new model.

Josh Freese's H-220, constructed from American Hickory, comfortably measures out at .580" at the grip (between a 5A and 5B) and 16" in length. With a quick taper and heavy shoulder, it gives a bit more weight up top for a solid feel, great response and durability, yet is still sensitive enough for lighter playing. The H-220 tip is a slightly enlarged version of the Vater 5A tip, which provides a bit more volume and attack from drums and cymbals. Josh Freese's H-220 is only available in wood tip.
