Ben Davis

Ben Davis is an arranger, composer, performer, and instructor of percussion. He received a Bachelor's of Music degree from Eastern Kentucky University studying under Jason Koontz and Rob James. During his time at EKU he studied all forms of percussion ranging from Western to Eastern styles. In 2005 Ben had the privilege of studying hand drumming and drum set throughout Brazil. He studied many different styles of the Brazilian Sambas in areas such as Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Palo.

Throughout the past nine years Ben has taught and composed for state champion and state finalist marching bands in Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, and Indiana. Also, he was involved teaching and writing for WGI world finalist groups and Tri-State Championships. Currently, he has been teaching private percussion lessons and has been working as a marching percussion consultant for high school bands throughout Kentucky. Ben teaches at the Drum Center of Lexington, which is a five star drum shop. As well as teaching at Curriers Music World and is the Percussion Teacher at the Lexington School of Music.

Lately, he has been performing as a freelance musician working with groups of many genres from Country, Rock, Funk, Reggae, Steel Band, all the way to Jazz. Ben is the drummer for the Jazz group Swing Insight, a Funk/ Reggae group Exit Right Here, and the percussionist for the First Baptist Church in Richmond, Kentucky.
